imergo® is one the key products developed within the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT and it is used in many companies and organisations worldwide.

Our institute pursues a user-centered approach to information and cooperation systems design. FIT's vision can be defined as human-centered computing in a process context. FIT has a staff of about 100 researchers from different areas like: Computer Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration and Engineering.

Web Compliance products

The Web Compliance Center has developed since his foundation a wide palette of products that support its customers with the implementation of different compliant Web technologies. These products are the result of years of research in the area, supplemented with participation to different standardisation and recommendation bodies, especially related to Web technologies like the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

imergo® Web Compliance family of products

imergo® encompasses a set of tools that supports our customers when implementing Quality Assurance methods and processes targeted to Web Compliance. imergo® is a product aimed to medium-large scale portals, and therefore offers different interfaces:

  • Web Service: to be integrated into different ECMS and tools.
  • Off-line task-oriented process: for periodic monitoring and on-going improvement.
  • Multiplatform and multilingual desktop GUI (Windows and Linux): for project management and reporting of results.

Additionally, imergo® provides:

  • Reliable persistence back-end: rules, evaluated documents and project configuration files are stored in a RDBMS database. Currently supported are major commercial and Open Source vendors like Oracle, Microsoft and MySQL, among others.
  • Project management: project progress can be monitored in combination with the implemented reporting capabilities targeting a variety of audiences, from Web developers to the company’s management.
  • Large scale validation of XML and (X)HTML documents for big Internet portals. The tool validates also CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). imergo® does not have the known limitations of some other validation tools when dealing with XHTML/XML documents.
  • A powerful, flexible and configurable crawler.
  • Easy implementation and configuration of evaluation rules, flexible composition of evaluation rule-sets. Current off-the-shelf evaluation rule sets include BITV priorities 1 and 2 (German law), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 1.0 levels A, AA and AAA, and Section 508 (USA). Customers can modify existing rule-sets and create new ones with the available plug-in interface.
  • Integration into many Content Management Systems thanks to its Service Oriented Architecture.

imergo® Spell-Checker is a powerful spell-checking engine customized to be integrated within our Web Compliance tools, while offering the possibility to be used as an stand-alone product. It offers support for a big list of languages, which is easily extensible with private dictionaries.

imergo® Search Engine is a powerful search engine targeted to medium-large portals that offers a wide variety of customization and indexing properties.
